Like everyone I spoke to, who saw the latest episode of Panorama on TV ,I was shocked and horrified by the abuse of vulnerable young people by carers who were supposed to look after and protect them Panorama
In the light of the programme I thought this article from the Christian Medical Fellowship's magazine for medics "Triple Helix" The vulnerable their quality of care set on an excellent biblical case for caring for vulnerable people..
I am biased but I think that belief in Christian ethics will not long survive, if we cease to believe in a Christian gospel
You are SO right to bring this concern to people's attention, Cahrles. I also think that, as Christians, we need to take on board the saying, "All it takes for evil to flourish is for good people to do nothing." A good friend of mine, who have an adult son with profound difficulties, sent me a very touching letter, ending by saying that she and her husband don't mind grovelling for people's support.
ReplyDeleteThis is the inhformation she gave me about action being taken I hope you don't mind if I use your comment facility to make this known, Charles, but my friend's affected me deeply and I know that, as Christians, though prayer is important, we have to act, too, to overcome evil with good. Thanks Pauline
ReplyDeleteI have acted on this and delighted that you use the blog for that Pauline
Thanks for that, Charles. I have already received a reply from my local MP saying he is taking it up with the Minister- (I'm not sure who that would be.) Sorry I rushed and made SO many typing errors and left words out as I was in a hurry! :-( Christian responsibility to act is one reason I support CARE- (Christian Action Research and Education.) I also notice Dave Matthias has drawn our attention to the programme about child poverty.
